There is a line to get into the Queen's party, and your goal is to ultimately kill the queen. However, there is a code you must respond to the guard to get inside. You notice the people before you say stuff. When the guard said "twelve", the first guest said "six", and was let inside. "When the guard said "six", the second guest said "three", and was let in also. You, following this pattern, when the guard said "ten" to you, you said "five". The guards immediately knew you were not a guest and was arrested. What answer should you have said?

The answer is 8.
The guard says 12 and the guest answered 6
12+6=18
1+8=9
or 1+2+6=9

The second time the guard says 6 and the guest answered 3
6+3=9
The last time the guard says 10, to which you should've answered as 8 because
10+8=18
1+8=9
or 1+0+8=9

It would be three because...
12- Has six letters
6- Has three letters
So... 10- Has three letters
