Janne and Hanne are two sisters who are both very fond of chocolate. Janne has a daughter named Kari. Kari is Janne's daughter, and is 12 years younger than her aunt Hanne.
Janne is twice as old as Kari.
Four years ago, Janne was as old as Hanne is now and Hanne was twice as old as her niece.
So, how old is Kari??

Let's shorten the names to their first initial. Kari is K, Janne is J, Hanne is H.
K=H+12
J=2K
These are obvious givens, as clearly stated in the first 2 paragraphs. Next, you have to use a little common sense to put together
J-4=H and
(H-4)x2=K.
Algebraically speaking, you only really need 3 of the 4 formulas to get your answer, but the 4th piece of info helps confirm it. I agree with Ja, Kari is 16 years old. Nice riddle Fullmetal, gave me a good several minutes to work it all out. Keep 'em coming ;)
